Ha! I couldn't figure out why this pad wouldn't stick to anything until my granddaughter looked at it and told me that the backing had to be peeled off both sides to expose the tacky side!! Once that was done, this very thin layer makes rugs safely slip-proof, and NOT SURE, but I would guess might also stop color transfer for rug-on-carpet situations. Be sure your rug is totally vacuumed before you put this down, cuz it will pick up all the fuzzies like crazy if not!! A good product.

carpet thin, hard to vaccum, does not stay in place even with pads...it is pretty though..
