The lift attaches to 100% to the wall, or the bottom can pivot and be attached to a surface (floor or stand). It is easy to operate with a controller attached to the stand, or does come with a remote that I have not yet tried. Both controllers are pretty generic looking. It operates smoothly and extends up quite a bit - it works well for me for sitting or standing at my desk. IT COMES WITH NO HARDWARE to attach to a wall, and the instructions are terrible, but it is pretty easy to just figure it out. You have to use the tv mount that comes with it because the holes are set specifically to support that (I wish the holes were more adjustable as the mount I already had was much better quality).
