The rug shows every bit of pressure applied to the surface - footprints, cat paws, even lightly pressing your finger on it. It seems to be because of three factors - the pile has no bounce, the colour of the base layer is much lighter than that of the pile, and the pile is not woven dense enough. The edges are also woven rather loosely and a small section is already frayed, likely from vacuuming. I've only owned this for 2 weeks. Overall, it doesn't look dreadful and I just need to be very careful in cleaning it. Lesson learned - either go to the store or get a sample to actually feel the quality of a rug.
