Soft but sheds a lot. I keep cleaning it hoping it will stop, my concern is if it is a quality issue it will be too late to return after a couple months. I also cannot return because I trashed the bag. Had I bought from brick and mortar store I could return it. First purchase from Wayfair, probably my last. Rug is soft though, hence the 3 stars
