It absorbs water so served that purpose. I thought it was a woven rug, but it’s really more like foam. It’s gotten pretty dirty for only having it a month. Haven’t tried washing it yet.

Look great in kitchen and bathroom. Nice cushiony feel, which is a bonus for standing at sinks.
