A warm green wool rug with a plush, densely packed pile, this hand woven piece carries its colour with a depth and variation that comes directly from the pile construction, where the individual fibres catch light at different angles across the surface to produce a tone that shifts between a brighter, more yellow-leaning green and a deeper, more muted olive depending on the direction of view. The solid colorway is deceptively simple, with the grainy texture of the pile, and the warmth in the green keeping it from reading as flat or cold. The 100% wool construction delivers a softness and resilience underfoot, and the natural fibre takes the dye evenly, producing a colour that is consistent and stable across the full surface. The colour of this rug may appear differently depending on the screen and device settings used to view it; the green sits in a warm, yellow-tone and is neither a cool emerald nor a dark forest green, but a softer, more natural mid-green with warmth in its base tone.Storey Behind the Art: Handwoven rugs are among humanity's oldest textile art form, originating in nomadic tribes all over the world, where weavers crafted them for both practical warmth and cultural expression. What makes handwoven rugs a vast and rich world unto themselves is the remarkable diversity of techniques employed across civilizations. Hand-knotting, hand-tufting, needlepoint, are all examples of hand-woven rug techniques. Together, these methods transform handwoven rugs from mere floor coverings into encyclopedias of human ingenuity, labour, and craft.
