The short loops are dense and cushy. This rug is very sturdy and will last for years. I put Wayfair’s basic felt and latex rug pad under it. (Bought a larger pad and trimmed it easily with scissors to fit.) I love the natural wool fiber and the color variations from charcoal grey to light grey. I’ve been sitting on the floor playing with my grandson a lot this week!
