I don't think I need the rug pad underneath (which was also bigger than 6x9), but I also heeded the reviews that said it was really thin. I think it’s Soft and really pretty. As mentioned, definitely not black.

Amazing quality. Color is more blue-ish gray, but a perfect fit for my family room. Fluffy and comfortable

The color was not black it was a true gray. It was also thinner than I expected. The pattern was great, too bad it didn't work out.
