It’s made of jute or some rough fiber so not as soft as it looks. As other reviews state, the ends stick up a lot due to the binding at each end. I considered it a tripping hazard and so I returned it. It is pretty in its way, so if you have the need for this kind of rug, you may like it,

Nice hand woven rugs. Bought 2 for kitchen. They do have slight lifts on edges which help hold in place….however, remember to pick your feet up. Not for clumsy people.

Love this rug! I have it as a runner in my galley kitchen. It warms the feel of the area up. Used a rug mat underneath to avoid rug slipping.
