This carpet arrived packaged much better than others I have purchased. It was tightly wrapped in layers of waterproof heavy duty plastic wrap and in addition had stiff cardboard packed along the carpet edges so that it would not become bent, torn, frayed or beat up along the edges in transit. The weather here is cold so we unrolled the rug and laid it on the floor. The folds and creases had relaxed within 24 hours. I think the size and weight of the rug helped. However the 12" around the perimeter was not totally flat so I bought some double sided carpet tape and added it to the perimeter. As we have it on a hardwood floor the tape also kept it from sliding. WE also have a robot vacuum so we ordered this thinner carpet with the consideration that the vacuum would not get stuck while vacuuming. Also, we have some smaller pieces of furniture situated both on and off the rug and we wanted the furniture to sit levelly and to eliminate any trip hazard from the floor to rug. We are happy with this rug for these reasons and for the fact that it will wear well during our snowy, wet, winter months. In addition the colors are true to what the pictures represent. The blues, greys, green and off white enhance the colors in the furniture we chose without overwhelming it or making it look dingy. We got the 7 1/2 ft by 10ft rug to anchor a long, narrowish room. It is soft and comfortable when barefoot but if you like something plush it could benefit from a good carpet pad. I would buy this area rug again.
