This TV stand has our family torn a little. It’s an interesting piece - it holds a very large screen securely. It also has a decent amount of shelving space while being quite thin, depth-wise, perhaps due to the angled shelf design in the middle. It also moves and has nice casters that lock securely on the bottom.
The design is also pretty unique. There aren’t exactly a plethora of mid-range tier television “carts” out there, and even less that don’t fall in the “industrialcommercial” style category. (I.E. a metal cage on wheels) . It had kind of a 60s vibe to me, personally, with the faux wood grain look. At first I didn’t dig that, but it grew on me quickly.
So why are we torn
1.). The build material is cheap. This is not the best quality laminate material. In building it (and we have built many such items) we had multiple areas that got chewed up or stripped out. It’s still sturdy, but half the screws are stripped - partly because the entire build uses nothing but Philips head screws. Yup! Not a single Allen bolt.. a first from Wayfair for us…
2.). We were sent an obvious return unit. Had this not been a tried and true review (and even though it is, we could have requested a return.) we would have likely returned it. One of the metal arms was bent. Another was clearly wrapped by hand by a cling wrap roller, while all the others were in their own bags. And there were cracks in multiple pieces of laminate. In the end, this didn’t stop us from enjoying the piece, but it was worrisome that an affiliate of the Wayfair drop shippers would do such a thing.
Overall, three stars. Good aesthetic, unique product niche, questionable company ethics on the return, poor build quality.
