Although this item states it fits an xl twin mattress, it has to be a particular thickness, the top mattress has to fit xl twin 10 inch mattress otherwise you will have a dangerous gap between the base and headboard. The trundle bed also oddly enough requires a mattress that’s 8 inch thickness max. But try finding a mattress that’s xl twin 8 inch for the bottom is hard to find. I tried to return but my return fee would not be waved due to a technicality I didn’t have a tape measure I’m unhappily stuck with the bed and out of money. I’m a single mom with an autistic child and bought this bed hoping we could both fit on it as a safety issue bc my son elopes. Now I’m trying to make the best of it.

This item comes with a charger built in to the furniture + the trundle bed. So far my son loves it! We did receive a damaged foot board, but Wayfair was quickly to ship us a replacement.
