First let me say I ordered an open box item since it said they were as good as new and had been carefully checked. This item however had a damaged box when it arrived and there is no way for me to tell when the damage happened. Was it like that when it was packed or damaged during transit. The bench came out in two parts - the top and the base. The staples which were to hold the top on were all bent and the glue certainly had not held. There were some joints that were loose and one very noticeable spot with corner damage. The item was made of heavy wood and worth saving however. So my husband removed the staples and re-glued the joints and the top of bench. We are going to give it a try. I really do not know how to get it returned when it said you could not return open box items. That is a shame in this case. It is the right size, style and color for the place we need it and hope that once it is placed in the spot we need it, that we will not be moving it again. Just hope the glue holds!

The description said this is solid wood, it's not. Two places the veneer is peeling up (only allowed to upload one photo), one of the legs/feet is loose and a bit out of position, and the top is loose and wobbles up to 1/4" - 1/2". For $800 the overall quality is very disappointing! If I'd seen this in person, I don't think it's worth $200.

Ok obviously the item got absolutely trashed by the shipping company - not why I gave 2 stars and no fault of the manufacturer. They didn't send it out the door in this condition. Moving on... 2 stars because product is fairly misleading. Shelf and back/side panel material is NOT wood, but rather some sort of compressed cardboard stuff. Very cheap material. I specifically sought out solid wood furniture so I'm able to fill in any nicks this thing will attain over time. Overall quality level for the price point just doesn't match in my opinion. The rest of the piece does appear to be wood, so I will give them that. Color is just what we expected so that's a positive takeaway for anyone looking at this. In short, thought $800 or so would get a quality piece and I was very wrong. Would rather drive around to 10 different furniture stores for an actual wooden piece than keep this.
