The back of the chair is not that smooth and splinter could be a problem. Color of wood is a bright blue and I would recommend a darker shade.

Very disappointed in quality control. Ordered two stools and while one is in great condition, the other has a slew of issues. Discolored seat, chip on the seat frame and incorrect hole/dowel connection points on the foot rest. The box was also in terrible condition and the seat was not in a bag like the other with the hardware completely unorganized—so I suspect it was a return? No idea how it made its way back into their inventory with all of these issues.
