Truly wooden and heavy. Item arrived cracked and wood split. Be aware shelf is less than 12 inches deep. Sent photos of the poor workmanship. Received 20% off. Due to disability could not box to return.

Looks great and easy to assemble - you only need to attach the legs. I'm using it to, among other things, hide the internet and wifi routers and cables so I had to create a hole in the back panel to run the wires through. This was easily done since the back was the typical paperboard backing. The only feature that would improve the piece is if the top two drawers had a stop to keep them coming all the way out. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Added this piece to an existing bedroom suite for some extra storage. Really nice piece and exactly what we were looking for.
