Right out of the gate, this shelving unit arrived in excellent, secure packaging that kept all the pieces perfectly protected during transit. The assembly process was incredibly straightforward, taking only about 30 minutes with no specialized tools required; while having a second person around to help join the two main halves together is useful, it is completely manageable to build single-handedly. Once put together, the quality of the construction really stands out. The wood is remarkably thick and solid, and the finish has a high-quality, fine texture (see image) to it with beautifully done edges that are thick enough to resist peeling or chipping over time. As a wonderful bonus, they even included felt pads for the base. Most units I've purchased in the past don't come with these, forcing me to buy them separately, so having them right there in the box to easily add on was a great surprise. Visually, it has a really clean, premium aesthetic appeal, but the absolute best features are the side support bars. I actually converted this into a Lego display shelf for my kids, so having those side bars to prevent small pieces and sets from sliding off the edges was absolutely critical.
The only minor downside is that the package didn't include any white stickers or patches to cover up the open screw holes (see picture). Even though the holes aren't in highly visible spots, I still would have appreciated a way to cap them off for a perfectly seamless look. I originally wanted to rate this a 4.5 out of 5 due to that omission, but since the platform forces a choice between a 4 or a 5, the exceptional build quality, thoughtful extra touches, and overall functionality easily earn it a full 5/5 stars.
