This was a solid recliner, unfortunately it did not meet our needs on two counts, I was looking for a tall man recliner, this came up under a search for such, but it was really more average sized, the other was it was too difficult for my disabled husband to recline in. We were looking for a manual recliner because he got stuck in a power outage and was afraid to use his powered chair but it took too much strength to recline
