Silviane Bookcase

I was pleasantly surprised at how quality the material was, how many pieces there were (in terms of stabilization and support), and how in-depth the instructions were. I think I’ve been so used to poorer quality items from other companies with unclear instructions and this item was the complete opposite. I bought this bookcase to act as a TV entertainment stand. The area I wanted to put it had very specific measurements that meant I couldn’t have anything longer than 45” and this fit perfectly. I believe the top of the bookcase has a weight limit of 50 lbs so for reference, the TV I put on top is an older model 42”, with plenty of space on the sides and heavier than super new TVs but definitely under the weight limit. The bookcase is very sturdy and the materials include these little white covers to hide the cam locks and I hadn’t seen those before. They were nice to use to keep the look clean and neat, no signs of any hardware. Again, I can’t emphasize the instructions enough, the booklet came with QR codes to pull up and watch videos of some of the more in-depth steps. I thought this was well worth the price.

Bookcase itself is nice, but instructions were the WORST I’ve ever received, (& we’ve assembled 6 other pieces of Wayfair furniture), so just be aware that assembly is going to take longer & you will have to figure a lot of the steps out on your own. Plus I purchased a Silviane Bookcase by Ebern Deisgns & received a Bush Furniture bookcase. They looked the same, but still. Called the 800 number (from Bush) for more instructions, no info. Scanned the QR code for assembly videos, no video for this particular bookcase. So I was left to my own devices, good thing I have a mechanical mind.

Top part is great quality, beautiful colour. The base of this is not great quality, it’s cheap fake wood. Bottom middle section won’t let you slide a bin in fully, so it will stick out more than the others vs a flush look with the bin sliding all the way in.

These cubby shelves are a great addition to a storage room in our mountain home. They are very sturdy and good-looking. Assembly took about 90 minutes for the first one, under an hour for the second one. There are a fair number of parts and lots of screws and dowels, but we found the instructions easy to follow and, importantly, all holesscrewsparts were well-aligned.
