Just as I expected when I ordered it

My tv stand was stunning I bought the black with the gold handles. It elevated my work space very clean finishes. Instructions were a little bit tricky. It takes two to build the storage cabinet but well worth it!

This one star is for: 1. the absolute misery that was putting this piece together. 2. The terrible instructions that weren't even compiled properly. 3. The toxic smell of the paint. 4. The scratches it came with and the general substandard of the materials esp. hardware. Details follow: Point 1 & 2: I've assembled a lot of furniture, I can usually figure it out even if the instructions are sketchy at best. This was a whole other level. You need a drill to get the screws in--would it have taken that much longer to do a pre-drill? They don't mark where the base needs to go or give any pre-drill holes. Because the instructions were assembled by a toddler and not stapled together it missed an important stabilizing step that I had to find on the internet. The draw installation was a nightmare and the images were Terrible and the instructions vague. The drawers still don't slide without friction because they don't quite fit. The doors can be adjusted but no adjusting has really made them level or far enough away from the draws to avoid catching. There were so many corners cut. The hardware was subpar. The base actually felt like it could give me a splinter. Everything came reeking of strong paint finish. The drawers are not deep enough to be useful. If you don't look too closely it is really nice to look at and does the job, just disappointed.

Keep shopping! This item was difficult to put together - there were no holes where the drawer slides were supposed to go - but maybe that is because after we got it put together, the drawers are too wide to install in the opening. I paid way too much for this to not use the drawers, but I don't want to mess with packing it up and sending it back. Do not buy this item if you enjoy your sanity.
