The bed was very nice and solid. The only disadvantage of having a low profile bed is that the mattress/boxspring is higher than a standard bed.

Update.....It is now just over a year since we bought this bed. We bought it because since the specs said it could handle weight up to 1000 pounds we thought it would be sturdy. One year later the legs have collapsed....and our combined weight does not come close to 1000 pounds. If I had known it would only hold up for a year I would have bought a cheaper, throw-away bed. Additionally, when going to fix the legs we found that they bore a hole through our hardwood flooring so now we have to have that repaired as well. We ordered this bed in king and love it as a whole. It came when they said it would. It is very sturdy and well made. Being in our late 60s we love the more traditional styling that goes with the other furniture in the room. Our son came over and put it together for us with ease and in record time. Our only complaint is that the foot and side rails are not high enough to cover the box spring. No problem we thought we'll just get a bigger quilt.....not so easy though. They are a standard size and the standard 104x96 inch quilt, coverlet or comforter won't hit the top of the rails leaving a few inches of mattress visible all around. I have ordered an old-fashioned bedspread, something I am not happy with on styling but is larger, and hope it will work. Manufacturers should get together and size these things so they work together as intended.
