While the official description promotes this bookcase as ideal for a home office—with charging stations and space for a printer or scanner—we found an entirely different and incredibly useful purpose: a dog-walking command center! Living in the Chicago area, winter brings early sunsets (sometimes as early as 4 p.m.) and frigid temperatures. That makes safety gear like light-up collars and warmth essentials like rechargeable hand warmers a must. The built-in charging area has become the perfect spot to keep everything powered and ready to go—no more running around the house trying to find where we last plugged them in! Midwestern weather is famously unpredictable, so our two dogs each have a wardrobe of four different coats—from insulated parkas for sub-zero windchills to lightweight rain gear for warmer drizzles. This bookcase provides more than enough space to neatly store all of them within reach. We added hooks for leashes and baskets for treats and waste bags to make everything easily accessible. Positioned next to the coat rack by our garage door, the shelves also serve as a convenient drop zone for outgoing items—like library books, return packages, and other things we don’t want to forget on our way out.
