Love the sleek look and functionality of this Murphy bed, but the platform sags under 200 lbs despite a 600 lb rating. Concerned about durability and longevity of the bed.

I really wanted to love this Murphy bed and in many ways, now that it’s built, I do like how it looks and functions. But the experience of getting it together, the quality of materials, and the overall finish make it hard to recommend. What went wrong: -The instructions were essentially useless, almost no words, just pictures. -Some of the wood pieces were labeled incorrectly. There was no clear indication of top vs bottom, front vs back, etc. I ended up spending hours tearing apart parts and redoing sections I thought were done right. -The materials feel cheap. The product description claimed “MFD particle board & wood,” but I’m not convinced most of it is real wood. The only solid wood parts seem to be the five planks that support the mattress. Everything else feels like engineered board. -There were small damages to the face of the bed , scuffs, scratches. Likely from handling, but surface quality is so low that they’re very visible. -A sticker was placed under one of the vents on the bed face. The adhesive is so strong that removing it scratches the surface badly. -I’ve spent over 15 hours assembling this — and the videos provided were no help. They’re just distant shots of someone putting pieces together, not helpful with your exact model or the tricky parts. -Gaps on the desk: There are noticeable gaps where parts of the desk don’t fit properly. Seams don’t meet flush, joints are loose, it looks like something is off in alignment. It adds to the impression of sloppiness and lack of precision. -The screw holes and bracing to the wall all show and is an eyesore. What’s good: Once assembled, the bed looks nice. The design is attractive. The mechanism/folding function works as advertised. Final verdict: Unless you really enjoy frustrating, time-intensive assembly, I cannot recommend this. Between the misleading material claims, the nearly useless instructions, mislabeled parts, fitting issues (gaps in the desk), and cheap finish, the disappointment outweighs the positives. If you end up buying one, plan for a full day of work (or more), expect to redo parts, and accept that the finish and materials won’t match what the description led you to believe.
