The bookcase is nice, but the “solid wood” is a bit misleading. The top looks more like a veneer.

This bookcase is made of pine, species unknown, that was harvested and manufactured in Brazil. I ordered the Mocha finish, which is transparent stain, and shows off the grain beautifully. Probably because of the numerous knots found in pine, most of the pieces are regular pine that is laminated with non-knotty pine. The laminations are not visible post assembly. The wood for the doors and the lower front panel are solid non-knotty pine. The doors arrived in a separate box. I did not want the frosted glass, so I ordered regular glass. The doors have fully adjustable hinges that allow up-and-down, left-and-right, and in-and-out adjustments. I need those doors to protect my books from dampness. I ordered the opened box special, and it was just like a regular order. The shelves have a 50-pound limit, so I used the kitchen scales to ensure that it was well inside the weight. To be safe, I put the heavy books off to the far left or the far right. This was a really great purchase!
