Firstly: 2 very heavy boxes, one is over 100 lbs, so I had to unpack them downstairs and carry the parts upstairs a few pieces at a time. I laid out all the parts first to be sure everything was included: there are supposed to be "tools" but there was only an allen wrench; a philips head screw driver is needed but a screw gun is preferable because there are a lot of screws. Also a small hammer or soft mallet comes in handy for the wood dowels to be tapped in. I suggest checking and cleaning out all the holes that need part B, a metal piece all the bolts need to screw into. The holes for part B often have bits of wood left in them or aren't quite completely drilled out: I used an exacto knife or a small flat head screwdriver and blew or vacuumed them out. Some of the parts aren't well marked with the part numbers but they are mostly all there. Be aware the instructions have no words so look carefully at the images so as not to have a part flipped the wrong way; it may work to install it, but then the next piece won't attach correctly. Some of the wood is barely coated with paint but those pieces are mostly not visible or will be covered by a mattress. I might use some touch up paint and even spackle where there are small holes visible for some reason. For the most part everything went together fairly easily and the hardware was well packaged and marked. It took me about 3 days on and off. I think it looks pretty nice as a guest bed and doesn't take up a lot of wall space for a room that's small and used for other purposes too. There's no mention in the specs about a mattress so I called Wayfair to ask. A 6" folding mattress is recommended (no thicker or the bed won't close). UPDATE: I ended up purchasing the Driffield Tri-fold 6'' Memory Foam Mattress and with a bit of wrangling it fits nicely into the closed up bed.

Tricky to put together but good quality. Took two days. Love the look! 6” mattress was still not comfy. Required additional foam pad.

Nice. Takes time to put together. I am elderly, so my grandson will put together soon.

I was very disappointed with the quality of this unit, specifically the paint job. It looks like they only ran a single coat of paint, and you can see the original wood in many of the panels. Assembly also took a lot longer than advertised. It took 4hours to complete (with two people), not 2 hours as advertised. All of the pieces were delivered in two separate shipments, which I didn't realize it until the first shipment arrived. Overall, I'm unhappy with this purchase and now I wish I made a different purchase.
