Ok, I really wanted to love these. Overall, this is a classic example of you get what you pay for. I will give you the good and bad. Bad The instructions absolutely suck. You will eventually figure it out, but it is going to make you very frustrated. There are no instructions on how to make the lights work. See photo. The light was a big draw for me, and I have no idea how to make it work.  The material is MDF (as described online), but it feels like painted cardboard.  As you can see from my photo they do not lineup together in the middle, and there are gaps along the base and top piece. The drawers open fine, but you’re going to have to give a little push to make them close fully. So if you are planning on using the drawers daily, I would expect them to fail pretty quickly.  The Good The overall result is not awful to look at. I am going to get creative on how to fill the gap in the middle. I needed something really to just display things in an office, and the bottom half is just going to be used to store infrequently used items. The budget did not allow for a better quality set so I settled on this unit. If I could go back, I don’t think I would have bought them, but they are together at this point. If you can accept that you are not buying family heirlooms to be passed down and these are just basic bookcases, then these will be just fine.

Cheap construction. Requires 2 people to assemble. Product breaks during assembly. I thought I was getting mostly wood when I ordered. It is mostly MDF. I also ordered because of the lighting. There are NO instructions on how to install the light. The shelves (3 of them) are finally put together (including gluing broken pieces) and I have no working lights. Very disappointed with this purchase!

Very nice, solid piece. Looks great and holds a lot of "stuff".

This is a beautiful bookcase. The reason for less than 5 stars is the assembly was VERY frustrating. Parts were mismarked. Screw holes did not line up cleanly with the alignment holes. The instructions in a couple places were backward from the actual construction! Pictures in the instructions are unclear. I have enough experience assembling furniture, I was able to figure out the problems, but assembly time on the first unit was close to six hours.
