I specifically called Wayfair to be sure this was NOT made in Malaysia due to the formaldehyde smell/outgassing that comes with products made in this country. I was told by Wayfair that it was made in China only to learn upon arrival that the boxes said Malaysia! Sure enough, the smell upon opening the first box was intolerable and dangerous too, considering the warnings about formaldehyde taking years to dissipate and causing cancer as well! Do not buy products made in Malaysia. I am returning these chairs today!

I like the stools and they look nice in our kitchen island area. There are a few blemishes but not enough to be upset about. Quite the chore to put together but if you're careful not to overtighten screws and remember to leave all bolts loose enough to allow for all bolts to be threaded before tightening you'll be fine.
