a whole. ** buyer beware** do NOT make the same mistake we did or worse! please read prior to purchasing this or any Wayfair product,as this was far beyond the scope of what should be expected as a customer, and far below the bar of what I would have expected out of customer service. By the time we got to only step 4 we ran into our first of what would be many issues. No matter what we or who tried, we could not get the hardware they sent to fit into the hole. We called Wayfair and they agreed to send us the correct hardware. Several weeks later when the replacements finally arrived they were the same pieces of hardware sent the first time, leading us to believe there may have been a mistake made in manufacturing where the holes were accidentally drilled incorrectly. So we call Wayfair again, and they agreed to send us a new wood piece, agreeing that might be the issues. Spoiler alert, the replacement wood piece never arrived. Thankfully in the meantime my husband was able to go to our local hardware store to find smaller hardware that would fit the misdrilled wood piece, that would at least allow us to continue forward In the mean time and to see if there would be any farther issues, but keep in mind- this is a Murphy bed, and as such has been engineered and structurally designed to specially bare the weight load, so finding pieces one our own that *just* worked certainly didn’t make me feel great about the beer 2,000 CAD I just spent.. Then we make it to step 20, and once again we are faced with an issue where the provided hardware will just not fit, 6 people, 2 carpenters by trade, could not get the screw to go into the wheel no matter what we tried, a vital component to the operation of the entire Murphy bed. So once again, we call Wayfair, who offer to send us out a replacement part for step 20, or a very small percentage of price back to buy our own hardware as needed from the local store- but at this point, we have run into two major manufacturing issues at step 4 and again at step 20, we have had to “jimmy rig” some of it so far, and we are only less than half way so far. So at this point, now a little frustrated I explain, I am not interested in another replacement piece, that may or may not fix the problem, that may or may not even get delivered at this point, only to have to call in x number of steps from now with another problem. at this point I request a new bed be sent entirely, I don’t want to assume there is an issue with the product inherently, surely I have just received a “dud” at the fault of absolutely no one mind you, but then here is the catch “fun” part! They will send you a replacement for their initial mistake BUT you must dismantle the first bed backwards the 20 steps, build the new bed if this one works out,so hopefully you didn’t have to pay to hire for professional assembly as is required, But then you need to squeeze it all back into the 4 boxes it came in to send it back or you will be charged twice for the bed. What they DONT tell you is that you need to sell your soul, first born, kidney and have two doctoral degrees in Tetris-sciences in order to get the bed back in the box. Onto the replacement bed which were left outside in the rain, as documented in the shipment companies photos and my own, once unboxed contained more than half the pieces scratched and damaged beyond the point of usability but at this point we are just so so ready to be done with the experience. Prior to being told we would need to ship back the faulty bed, Initially we had visions of just taking an axe to what we had first built and throwing the pieces out the window as obviously this bed was not be usable anyway and as such not suitable for resale, and believe me we did not buy a Murphy bed because it was cute, we bought it out of necessity, and “carrying” it down the stairs and out of the house would will never be an option. But At this point our child has been without a bed and kicked out of her room for more than a month, our living areas had been entirely taken over by the second beds boxes (4 weighing over 100 lbs each) we. Were. Done. In the end the Frankenstein Murphy bed has been half built with what was usable from the first package, and what hadn’t been too badly damaged in the second package. The pieces of bed, BY THE ABSOLUTE GRACE OF GOD (and I am not religious) IN SPITE OF SATAN AND WAYFAIR, were able to fit back into the box (just this alone took hours of documenting removing each layer to be later readded in the exact order- but even then I can say in hindsight with near certainty that in the factory they are boxing with machines or very specific sets of Jason Bourne level skill and instructions.) reaching out to Wayfair one more time as requested to let them know we are ready for pick up and to share our experience, they go, oh ya geeze that sounds frustrating, but anyways rate us on how we did today! In short, if you value quality, your time or money, know that Wayfair doesn’t and won’t and hopefully at least this can save you from making the same mistake we did if you ever consider this product or company in the future!
