This is a big man's chair. I'm 6'1", 332lb, and it's just right for my size. The mechanical part of this chair is identical to my old one, very smooth and effortless. It was the house's most favored chair, you can expect it to last (the mechanical part) maybe 20 years. The seat cushion is twice as thick as my old one and very firm. I think it will soften up after a little use and be perfect. If not I can always add a gel pad or something like that. Better to be firm than too soft. The upholstery material is (Wyzenbeek Double Rub Count Heavy Duty 15,000-30,0950) a little thinner than my old chair but it is similar.
