We are using this for standing coffee tables. I simply did not add the foot ring at the bottom. It is stable and looks great.

I was glad to receive the product in the time frame promised however, it is the wrong pattern. I was very disappointed, but it was a gift...and I couldn't return it once he opened the box. I wish the company paid closer attention to detail...I really preferred the design shown.
