Its not select wood, but its solid wood, nice, and reasonably priced. The shine on the wood is a Minwax paste wax I applied to it. The wood is solid. The joinery seems pretty good. This is a nice coffee table for an apartment, which it was purchased for. Really good balance between cost, construction, and design.

Really like the table, good quality, fair price. Be advised it is more of a dark walnut color and I really expected a lighter color like the photo. However, it still works.
