This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. It's in my daughters room so it takes a beating and is holding up.

Really enjoyed this bed and its storage features. The lift was smooth and made it easy to shift from sleeping to storing many different items underneath. Assembly was complex, so be aware that it will take quite a bit of effort. Solid once it came together! My only complaint is that it cannot be taken apart to be moved. You have to break the plastic holders for the slats to take it apart, which means we ended up having to trash the bed.

Lift struggles a little bit but overall good!
