Know what you’re getting into before buying!
On the surface this seems like a great deal: Big solid-core doors for less than $1,000 with hardware included. That isn’t a terrible deal at all, but the description of the installation process is very misleading. It implies that this is basically just a disassembled pre-hung door frame that you simply have to reconnect and install, but there’s A LOT more work that needs to be done. The doors come without bore holes for the handles and locks and do not have cutouts for the hinges. The instructions (picture included) are super simple and make it seem like you only need a few basic tools to get the job done. I would up having to buy a lot more tools to complete the project.
It’s also important to check your doors to make sure everything is decent quality. Mine had significant gaps around the glass plate trims that I had to fill and dents from shipping (pictures included). Customer service is kind of helpful. While they’re pretty responsive, they only offered to send me a touch-up kit vs. new doors since the shipping damage didn’t impact the functionality of the pieces.
Finally, make sure you’re getting what you ordered. The first time I ordered from this company I bought 10-lite clear glass doors and received one of those and one barn door. They didn’t have any more 10-lite doors in stock, so I had to return the entire order.
Overall I’m pretty happy with the finished product, but if I knew that it would take this much time and effort I probably would have spent more money to buy something that was easier to install. If you’re an experience DIY-er and you like a challenge, this is for you!
