Spray painted. What I was looking for. Mounting was very simple. Slick black look is great. Very happy with the purchase.

It is a fine looking set of towel racks, a hook and a toilet tissue handle in brushed nickel. However, one of the handles was defective and could not be fixed to the wall. I wish the manufacturer checked all the items in the set for quality control; the waste of time and frustration could have been avoided.
