Assembly reviews are on point. This takes close to being a pro. Highly recommend a header board, especially if in an older house. We found a 6ft x 1in piece of cedar and stained it, then installed it first over the opening of the doorway before we did anything else. Also, if you're in an older house, be sure your DOOR Opening is level and SO IS YOUR FLOOR! :) This entire job is a two person effort for the amount of things that need to be held in place while someone else tightens or fastens something. Give yourself two solid days. We did it in 4 hours end to end. Hindsight, should have hired a pro to install. I'll break the rest of this review down by major component and what to prepare yourself for. Headerboard: just do it. It's almost impossible that the pre drilled holes in the rail will line up with where your studs are. And it's a nice accent piece once up. Then the rail can go up somewhat agnostic of where each stud is within the wall for the opening, especially if you're rehabbing an older house. The Rail/Track: The rail comes in 2 pieces, yes 2, not 1, 6ft rail (though the box is 7ft). The center of the rails fit together like a puzzle piece and require a lag bolt. The biggest challenge is ensuring it is level across both pieces and the exact height specified in the instructions simultaneously is nerve wracking. The Door Assembly themselves: 16 tiny screws per panel that require an Allen Wrench in a semi-hidden and sunken hole. This is to ensure they're hidden and of course carry the weight of each panel, but this process is painstakingly meticulous and long. If you can put the doors themselves together before your pro hangs the header board and rail system, all the better and will likely save you some money on install. We ran into a few of the screws not being machined properly for the intended holes, which is also frustrating. The Soft Close/Soft Open mechanisms: Work great once all together, BUT the instructions are not clear on what goes where. To save you a complete crash-out: they go on the BACK of the rail...and the shorter/more shallow end faces inward on either end. Also, the TINY screws that tighten these to the rail are also machined poorly and difficult to fully tighten once the rail is up. The last four screws on the back of this were nearly impossible and the soft closes were sliding up/down as a result which doesn't allow them to work very well. This was extremely frustrating. Once doors are hanging: The "Stoppers" for the soft close catch system are NEARLY impossible to install on top of the doors. These control the range of how far the doors travel on the rail/track as well to find them meeting in the center They require being taken apart, then carefully working behind the rail and the door then perfectly dropping another tiny screw into a hole you can't see. Recommend magnetic screwdriver for this part of the job. Hanging the door: Assuming you've done everything right above...it should be level, about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch off the floor, and join in the center. There are so many things to do and ensure are correct before hanging the doors that are impossible to verify ahead of time, which is also nerve-wracking. Now that they are hanging and we're adjusting I would NOT buy this again given the instructions, assembly time required and poor machining we ran into. Bitten again by Wayfair. Was hoping the "pro" meant higher quality, but alas it is not. If you are of reasonable means...just go find a high quality door at a furniture manufacturer here in the US, and pay a pro to have it installed. I'd give anything for the frustration and multiple hours back. Truly.

This barn door is perfect for this project! Renovating an old horse stable that has been converted into a home comes with unique challenges. The swinging door had to be eliminated to improve furniture placement and flow. We also wanted tempered glass to show off the stone wall and antique hitching post integrated into the new railing. The stairwell work is ongoing but I had to share how easy this door is to assemble and hang. The door slides with ease and the soft close feature is a huge plus! Highly Recommend!

Love Love these door! Add so much character and modern touch. We installed them to our office entrance. We have other black iron door in the house and this addition makes nice cohesive look. We put a supportive wood board above the door frame, painted it black and installed the door to it. We left the original door frame untouched, just removed original door. I’ll paint door frame black too) Great buy and so worth it!
