It is not the quality that this very same model used to be but it work just as well. As to the durability, only time will tell. Nothing is what it used to be. I guess we have to accept this.

Ok, I have very mixed feelings about this faucet. Starting with the good. I purchased this faucet 12.5 years ago when my home was first built. It came in the gold finish that I loved and it worked well for 11 years. There was always the issue of the warm setting, very hard to get it just right, but that was no deal breaker. I love the sleek design and the low bearing design of the instrument. I'm not crazy about the goose neck faucets. Then the hose started to not extend and then to leak. Delta replaced the hose and the leak issue was resolved. Then the main part of the faucet, the head, cracked. I even lived with that because I loved this faucet style and color. Shortly after the crack, I experienced a major flood in my home, originating under the kitchen sink, no fault of Delta faucet. Since I had to have the sink cabinet removed and replaced with brand new cabinetry, it was the right time to replace my beautiful gold faucet that was cracked. I called Delta and the customer service I received was superb!. I got the faucet replaced, same style....only they no longer carried the gold finish. (bummer). I selected the black finish which was fine since my kitchen appliances are black. Got the faucet, had it installed, and it worked fine for 2 months and 27 days. I was using the faucet and suddenly, the water would not turn off; kept streaming a low stream. Then, the nightmare of a flood under the sink again. The water was streaming from the hose under the sink and had built up a nice little flood before I realized it was leaking underneath the sink. Mind you, my sink cabin is brand new due to the recent house flood, and I did not want it to be damaged again. It was also leaking from the base of the faucet on top of the sink. I was leaving to go on vacation and did not have the luxury of time to get a plumber here, so the whole house water system was turned off until I returned. I'm back now, had a plumber out yesterday, and he confirmed the faucet is faulty. I am now in the process of trying to get the faucet replace...again...only this time, I will choose a new design. All in all, I loved the performance and the design of this faucet without incident, for nearly 12 years. I hope to continue my product relationship with Delta Faucets.

The plumber installed this faucet as a repair, and he'll have to come back to replace it. The pull-out spray handle is very awkward for use in a kitchen sink. I find I have to pull the hose out all the way and hold it in one hand so I can control the sprayer with the other hand. The handle for the spray unit is so large and the hose so stiff it is impossible to fit the spray head down into the sink without changing grips. Also, the toggle switch for spray/stream is sticky, it took two of us to get it to move the first time. The pull-out unit doesn't nest back into the faucet very well. There is no "on/off" function on the spray nozzle, which is a key feature in a spray wand for a kitchen sink. The spray stream seems to weak and diffuse for cleaning. The pull-out part of the faucet is plastic and feels cheap. I believe the pull-out spray head on this kitchen faucet is more like what one might want in bath or shower than a kitchen sink. I'm switching to a different design.

My wife and I love this 472-DST faucet and have had not had the problems with it as described in some of the other reviews. This will be our 4th purchase since 1993 which isn't bad considering the use and abuse it gets. No leaks, no drips, no problems with the spray button, no problems with sliding the hose in and out. Lubricating the inner grey plastic sleeve with soap occasionally will help. No problems with it looking or feeling like plastic - it looks like metal and feels like metal and I believe it is metal. Please note that you should probably avoid the PROMO model because it seems to have a lot of bad reviews around the internet. The PROMO model seems to be a cheaper made model - made in China, apparently. In our experience, this 472-DST faucet lasts about ten years, and will likely need the cartridge replaced at some point during those ten years, which is an easy job. We cook a lot and do a lot of dishes, so we're not complaining. Also, the design of the loooong handle invites significant stress on the inner parts when shutting water off abruptly so it helps to be gentle. Consider looking for the RECERTIFIED model (e.g. 470-DST-RECERTIFIED) which includes the 10 year warranty and is like new yet hundreds of dollars cheaper. Good luck
