I have two aluminum pergolas on our back patio. They need to be elevated so that doors that swing to the outside can open. When first installed the pergolas, I made wooded bases to elevate the two pergolas. But we live in Colorado, and the snow slowly 'ate' the wood. So I searched for something the snow couldn't eat, and it's plastic. They fabricated eight bases to the precise dimensions I supplied. Seven years later, they are as good as the day they were delivered, having survived the winter snows and summer sun. Great product that I'd highly recommend.
