Definitely needs to be painted color of your choice. Looked cheap until I painted it white.

This is beautiful! It’s more than I expected. It is lightweight and elegant. A teeny bit too big height wise for above my door so I will lightly sand a tiny bit off and paint it the color of my door trim. I love it and can’t wait to put it above my door.
