Looks nice but it hasn’t been installed yet so not sure how well it works.

There aren't many rear-outlet toilets out there that are compact, are attractive and can fit to a 4" standard rear-outlet rough in. This one ticks all the boxes. It's a little expensive for what it is and installation takes a little effort due to the concealed flange, but it is worth the effort for a simple and reliable toilet that looks good and fits in a tiny bathroom.

First of all, this is NOT a "commercial" toilet per se. It is a "rear outlet" toilet that is applicable to some residential apartments in buildings that choose 4" rear outlet, through the wall behind the toilet, rough-in configurations instead of the conventional 12" rough-ins into the floor below the toilet. Not many toilet manufacturers bother with this niche market. As far as this Icera Malibu II rear outlet toilet, my comments are broken down into 1) comments up to and including installation using the toilet, and, 2) comments following the installation. 1) Up to and including installation: 2 Stars (and that is being generous). a) Inadequate packaging; the unit comes all the way from China, and is subject to lots of handling between manufacture and receipt by homeowner. The packaging was not adequate to protect the toilet. One of the first two I received arrived with a shattered porcelain bowl. I had to pay the contractor to reinstall the old toilet, and, then pay him a second time to deinstall the old toilet and install the new Icera toilet! Did you know that plumbers in NYC get paid hourly rates that would make a brain surgeon blush??? b) design fail #1: the designer decided to eliminate the customary two bolts securing the bowl to the floor and only provide for two bolts into the wall behind the bowl. For a heavy object like a toilet bowl, two bolts into the wall is insufficient to secure the toilet. c) design fail #2: The redesigned Icera Malibu rear outlet toilet has a "skirted" bowl design which is aesthetically pleasing, however, the designer did not leave adequate entry points through the skirt to access the nuts which need to be bolted to the wall! Major design failure! The plumber was ready to blow a gasket trying to obtain such access through the tiny portal provided. d) design fail #3: the seat is made of a relatively flimsy plastic design; e) management failure: Management sent installation instructions for the OLD Icera Malibu rear outlet toilet, which is a completely different design! Major failure! And, Icera has the installation instructions for every Icera model in this one installation manual, further confusing the matter! 2) Following installation: 4 Stars; a) Despite all of the marketing hype about the toilet being able to flush a dozen golf balls and clear 1,000 grams of waste, the fact of the matter is the toilet does not have adequate flushing functionality to clear solid waste about 20% of the time. This will vary by person and diet. You had Mexican last night? Fuhgeddaboudit! This derives from the limits that the Federal government has placed on tank water volume in an effort to force water conservation, so is not limited to Icera by any means. However, why not offer a 1.6 gpf design, instead of the lower 1.2 gpf design of this model? Be prepared to flush multiple times, or clean out the toilet after every solid waste flush. To Icera's credit, the overall aesthetics of the design are superlative. It has a compact footprint, a huge plus in space-challenged NYC apartments. It has excellent eye appeal. It also has a relatively quiet flush cycle, a major plus when compared to other rear outlet designs that incorporate ear-splitting Flushmate pressure assist technology to help clear solid waste. And, of course, since to tank water volume is only 1.2 gallons, the flush cycle is over quickly. The skirted design also makes it much easier to clean the toilet. So, bottom line? Let's call it a 3 Star toilet.

Got 2 of these rear outlet toilets. They look great and excited to have them installed soon. They are a nightmare to install for the plumber. Major design failure in that regards. Beauty without brains. I have to change my ratings as my plumber charged me double for its installation and rightly so. Cost me too much eventually. Highly disappointed ☹️
