Purchased about 3 years ago. Have to replace the bulb every 3 months, which sucks especially when I'm told the bulb should last a year. So, what gives?

My UV filter was "glowing" but not killing the stuff in my water. Sean filled me in, the bulb needs annual replacement, as it will loose effectiveness after that time, even though it's still glowing. He also recommended having a spare bulb and a spare quartz tube for maintenance which I bought.

The UVF55FS was easy to install and works great. My first lamp lasted longer than expected and the replacement bulb was installed in about ten minutes. Quality products!

These UV filters work great, we live on cistern water, over the years I have ben adding whole house filters to make our rain water as clean and safe as possible, adding the UV filter with this bulb was the icing on the cake, kills any bacteria left after sediment and carbon block filters, great product!
