This vanity is advertised as real hardwood. It isn't. Once quick look at the grain pattern on the cabinet doors and it's obvious it isn't real. The grain is going is different directions depending on which edge you look at. From the top, it goes left to right across the face of the cabinet, but from the front it goes top to bottom. Unfortunately, I relied on the description, which isn't accurate. Only the drawer boxes are hardwood. The drawer fronts and cabinet doors are melamine over engineered wood, and the cabinet box material is not disclosed. Melamine is plastic. While the plastic surface may resist water briefly, the substrate underneath—likely MDF or particle board—is extremely moisture-sensitive. Once the melamine chips, peels, or separates (which is inevitable in a bathroom), the exposed material swells and permanently degrades under normal humidity. I paid a premium and selected a style I did not prefer specifically to purchase a true hardwood vanity—one that could be sanded, refinished, repaired, and reasonably expected to last 15–20+ years. Instead, I received a mass-market melamine product that Wayfair sells elsewhere for 20–40% less, with an expected lifespan closer to 5 years in a bathroom environment. I'm getting 1/4 of the life span & durability, and then incur additional costs to install a new vanity. Delivery compounded the problem. I scheduled delivery, rearranged my plans, and drove home early after the holidays to accommodate installation. The vanity did not arrive as scheduled, and Wayfair could not provide an update for weeks. It was ultimately delivered more than two weeks late, with only one day’s notice. The delivery itself was great, but losing the vanity for several weeks with no updates made coordinating and scheduling our bathroom updates nearly impossible. Because the materials were misrepresented, I did not discover that this was not real wood until after installation—leaving me effectively trapped unless I absorb additional removal and re-installation costs. Between the shortened lifespan, misrepresentation of materials, and unavoidable installation costs, the economic value of this $1,100 vanity is a small fraction of what was advertised. This product is not as described, and I would not have purchased it if it were.
