We bought this for our concentric furnace pipe (intake and exhaust). The exhaust portion is large enough for birds (we had a nest inside ours). the cover is slightly larger than the pipe, which is 3in diameter. By bending the tabs on this cover inward, the cover was able to grip the exhaust portion of the pipe. This will keep the birds out, so we're happy.
