[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This deadbolt replaced an earlier B series deadbolt installed during a remodel more than 25 years ago. I had no problem with the installation other than a little reticence at attempting a DYI project. Fortunately, the instructions were concise and specific. Although the look and construction of the outside housing has changed slightly making it one piece instead of several, the overall dimensions are exactly the same, and the deadbolt fit perfectly into the opening for the original. The one exception was the strike plate, which is the same width as the original, but somewhat longer. This is actually a benefit to me as the original deadbolt kept hitting the lower opening of the strike plate now I only need to chisel out a small section of wood and can use the new plate without any issue. The fact that both the deadbolt and I survived, my installation is a fine testament to Schlage’s commitment to precision and durability.
