I purchased this for my living room because I needed a quieter pedestal fan. It definitely is much quieter than the inexpensive plastic pedestal fans from the local hardware store. It also has a larger overall fan and puts out an increased amount of circulated air. It has many different settings. So far I am happy with the sound level and how it cools down the room better than my old fan. The only thing that is a little different is the sleep mode and the natural mode seem to operate by fluctuating the speed. I don't really care for those modes but the Normal mode is consistent and does a great job. Overall I recomment this fan, The price is MUCH lower than similar fans with these features. I am happy I purchased it and it is great in the living room to still hear the TV while the fan is running.

I think the fan is great. The fan works as intended and is very quiet which is what I was looking for because I’m a light sleeper and loud fans just won’t cut it.

You asked! ;) Strictly home use. Very flimsy (structurally). Cant imagine lasting more than a few months on a 12v adapter. We'll see. Summer is here and its about to be tested. On a positive note, I like that it can be run, 24/7. The motor is cool for now. And the 9 Sp also allows me control over a good range of speed and sound. I got it free courtesy of Wayfair (credit where due) because of a delivery issue, so im not complaining. But until i see this survive several Summers, Its just not expected to last, and thus, a high risk of losing $150 at the current price. After that its about the $150 i would have thrown in the garbage for a fan lasting only part of a Summer. Would that be a value to you? In my day, the original origins of fans - like cars - would have lasted a minimum 25 years and been passed on to generations. They couldnt die fast enough. For they were ugly and mean. They did the job. This looks like a Japanese rice fan in comparison. Elegant, but frail.
