Pare-étincelles Bachar

I bought this in gold. I first splurged and bought the Horchow version in "Rose Gold," but it turned out to be a bright rust color, so back to the store it went. I was looking for gold, so I decided to give this one a chance. I would say it's good for the price (at 1/4 the cost of the the Horchow version). You do get what you pay for. I would say that the color and workmanship is exactly as you see in the pictures. The gold is a more pale gold, and perhaps overly consistent, it's a gold paint as opposed to a true brass/metal finish. Also, as you see in the close-up, there are noticeable welds/seams, but overall it is a good piece. It is very sturdy, and does stand up straight. I do miss the folding, hinged legs on the Horchow version, as it made it so that the screen could stand closer to the fireplace. This one stands out a bit more than I'd prefer, but again it's very good for the price. I also wish the actual screening mesh was easier to see through and not so gold. I haven't lit a fire behind it yet, so we'll see.
