The problem with these drains is reputation. All of the installers I've spoken with say they will fail under some type of stress. It doesn't seem to matter the installation method used. The other issue with this is that the original drain and shower base has to line up perfectly. There is no room for error with these units and most installers dealing with older homes, won't touch them. I now, unfortunately, have wasted a lot of money on an unusable unit.

Gorgeous base. Nice under foot texture and feel. Rippled for grip but not too grooved to catch dirt, which should be easier to clean. The drain is well designed for hair capture. Solid when mounted with a plywood mortar base. It feels quality and hopefully will last for many years.
