About fell off my chair when I took my old doorbell off the wall - it had been there since 1983 and placed it beside the one I just purchased. IT WAS IDENTICAL with the exception of all metal parts are now replaced with cheap plastic. I mean EVERYTHING right down to the branding, wiring instruction, EVERYTHING. I guess if you have a good thing you don't fool with it, mine was still working well. The cover was what I wanted to change, and change it did. THIS IS NOT WOOD. Additionally this chime looks beautiful on the wall, even better than our previous similar unit that wasn't lit.
