Not sure what to think or write. The top does get hot as it is supposed to, but it worried me for a bit. I prefer it with no light on the top - that may be because I am a senior, not sure. The light on top is bright and can definitely serve as a night light. There has never been residue under it and I don't think that that is because the place had/has great air quality.
