I’m 75 so this thing is a bit hard for me. I didn’t realize the compartment for clean water and used water were in the back. It’s heavy to turn around for me and lifting the water is difficult. You must wash the whole thing every week. My sink is high, newer apt, I’m 4 11” and that’s lifting at chest level. I think for younger folks it’d be great but when it’s done cleaning the water there is about a days worth for me. Otherwise for what it is it’s great! It does take up one counter at my apt. I recently installed a whole-home water filtration system myself, and the difference in water quality is night and day. The water tastes noticeably cleaner and fresher — no more chlorine smell or aftertaste. Test strips confirmed zero chlorine, and my TDS dropped significantly from 140 ppm down to 95 ppm. That said, it doesn’t soften the water (as expected with most carbon-based systems), but the improvement in clarity, taste, and odor is fantastic. Installation went surprisingly smoothly for a DIY job. It took me about four hours from start to finish, and the final setup looks clean and professional. The trickiest part was seating the filters properly — I had some minor leaks at the threaded filter housings when I first turned the water back on. The fix was simple depressurize the system, reseat the filters, and carefully re-tighten the housings. Lesson learned take your time with that step and double-check for leaks before moving on. If you’re considering a DIY install, I’d say go for it — just be patient, work neatly, and don’t rush the filter assembly. I really was excited about this water filtration system but after setting it up I have to say I’m kind of disappointed. I have been buying bottled water for a long time because even tap water that’s been filtered through a filter that attaches to my kitchen faucet gives me heartburn. On top of that I got a letter from the city saying my water is coming into my house through lead pipes! So I felt it was time to up my water filtration game! My biggest concern with this system is that I wasn’t able to find a replacement filter anywhere. The manufacturer and big box store that sell them show them as sold out. This system came with a filter but what good is it if I can’t get a replacement filter when I need one The set up was a pain as well because it requires running four liters of water through the machine three times before you can use it. So, after all that, how does the water taste It’s ok. It’s not really good tasting water. It also takes up more counter space in my small house. It does what it says so I give it four stars but I’m not going to tell all my friends to buy one. Also, two pieces of plastic were broken off the lid to the water reservoir. My system is split to a dedicated faucet and my 2 refrigerator's, ice makers and water dispensers. Water taste good, no issues. I did have to add a small pressure tank to keep the system from cycling multiple times when the ice maker was being filled or the water was being dispensed from the refrigerators. The refrigerators back pressure causes the RO system to shut off prematurely. With the added small waterdrop PWT ( pressure water tank) the system no longer Cycles and the pressure of the water coming out, has increased a small amount. The number of times per day the system comes on has also decreased because of the PWT. The system is not loud but noticeable. The reviews I've seen mainly complain about noise from the system. Which it's not my experience. Again, adding the PWT also reduces the numbem cycles the system runs per day. The system was easy to put in. Only pre-requirement is a dedicated electrical outlet under the sink. I split my power from my dishwasher. I ran my electrical line from the dishwasher under my cabinet into a dedicated dual Outlet. The tap water right now tastes like lakewater due to the algae bloom in the local reservoir, but this machine makes it taste great again and quickly dispenses hot water for ramen and tea. Setup was as easy as finding a spot on the countertop, filling the water tank, and plugging it in. The instructions are clear, and there are a ton of options for how much water to dispense at a time and water temp (including a formula temp for mixing baby formula). I’ve replaced my zojirushi water boiler with this since the hot water function is integrated and so fast. The only thing I wish I could change is to make the dispenser height a little higher so that my sodastream bottles fit underneath. Right now it’s just a quarter inch short so I need to pour the water directly from the pitcher into the sodastream bottle (first world problems, I know).
