Fontaine de patio moderne en résine de brique grise

i have purchased MANY things from wayfair & always been very pleased, however, i'm sorry to say that i am completely disappointed w/this fountain. i purchased this to replace one that we had for many years, which was perfect, but it was old & beat. i can only give this fountain 1 star & that is for it's appearance - obviously, which is why i bought it. it is simplistic, unobtrusive & attractive, but it ends there. rec'd it yesterday & have spent a good 3 hours since trying to come up with ways to overcome it's flaws. first, the water drops directly into a completely open basin, into the water, thereby creating a very unappealing water "plopping" sound (like filling a bathtub) - ug! there is no gentle, serene, comforting, light waterflow sound. the waterflow not only sounds awful, it splatters. i adjusted the waterflow a dozen times - if it is too low it hits the top portion where it comes out, and splashes all over. if it is too high it splashes all over near the basin. another issue is with the basin being completely open, everything will drop in there! the hole in the back, to insert the pump, also does not have a cover! so, to continue - i tried to remedy the horrible 'plopping' sound by putting some screening in the basin in hopes of difussing the water & creating more of a serene sound. problem is then you see the screen. i covered the screen w/ vase glass beads, which only made the water splash all over! removed the beads and you see the screen. no matter what speed i put the motor on the water seems to splash off of something, onto the deck & lanterns. also, if the speed is too high it leaks out of the edge, next to the spout (close up photo). i'm still thinking of ways to remedy this fountain to make it appealing & comforting to listen to. like i said, it is a pretty little, unpretentious piece to look at, however, it completely misses the mark regarding its sound, as well as it's functionality. without a nice, serene water sound (& no splattering) pretty or not, it is kind of useless. i'll keep trying.

Perfect size. You can hear the water. Very little splash out.
