This was exactly what I wanted for my elderly husband who almost fell out of bed one night. I love the mechanics of it - just like a hospital rail, it slides out of the way when not in use. That way he can still sit comfortably on the edge of the bed when getting dressed. The only downside for us is that our mattress is very deep, with a 4” topper on it, so only about 4” of the rail shows. However this is plenty for him to feel in his sleep and stop him from rolling over it. He also likes that he can easily raise and lower it himself when lying down.
